National Tourism Policy 2015 on anvil

A National Tourism Policy 2015 is on the anvil. It aims at making India a country which must be experienced and revisited by global travelers. Also, its emphasis will be on encouraging Indian citizens to explore their own country so as to realise the potential of tourism as a major engine of economic growth, job generation and poverty alleviation. <br/><br/>Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today. He informed the House that his Ministry has launched a Swadesh Darshan programme for developing tourist circuits around specific themes. A national mission on pilgrimage rejuvenation has also been launched to beautify and improve the amenities at centres of pilgrimage of all faiths, he said.
