National selectors to pick Team India squad on Friday

With the curtain set to come down on the fourth edition of the high profile Indian Premier League (IPL), in another 12 days, it is time again for regular international tours for team India and for the selection committee to pick up their pencils again in Chennai on Friday. Headed by Chairman Krishnamachari Srikkanth, the national selectors are scheduled to assemble at the BCCI office at the M A Chidambaram stadium that also houses the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association(TNCA), to pick the squad, amidst plenty of choices, if they agree to rest the senior players and go by the form exhibited by some young talents in the ongoing IPL. Will they pick a team with a few fresh faces for the five match ODI series in West Indies and alter the squad suitably for the three Test matches to follow, is the question doing the rounds. Contacted by UNI, Srikkanth indicated that only the selectors would be present at the meeting. Srikkanth also indicated that there has been no decision yet on resting the seniors like captain Dhoni, Lakshman, Sachin and Zaheer Khan and pick some fresh faces for the ODI games in the Caibbeans.
