National Security Adviser, Mr. Shivshankar Menon will push for direct Indian access to Pakistani-American LeT operative David Coleman Headley, during his meeting with his US counterpart, Gen James Jones today.

According to official sources, this follows the issue being raised by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh with President Barack Obama late last night.

Although the legal processes will have to be gone through, President Obama has said that his government was fully supportive of the Indian request for provision for access to Headley.

He is also expected to stress that Headley should be extradited to India.

Headley has pleaded guilty, for all the twelve charges including his involvement in Mumbai terror attack and other terror attacks.

India’s would like to know from Headley his connections in the Pakistan army and about the Karachi Project.

The Karachi Project is believed to have been set up by the ISI and groups like the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and HUJI which utilise Pakistani-trained Indian-operatives to plant explosives in selected cities in the Indian heartland.
