The National Public Broadcasting Day is being celebrated today to commemorate Mahatama Gandhi's visit to All India Radio in 1947. On this day, Gandhi Ji visited All India Radio studios in New Delhi to broadcast a message for the refugees from Pakistan staying at Kurukshetra. In memory of this day, a special function was organised at the premises of All India Radio New Delhi.<br/><br/>Gandhi Ji's favourite bhajans were sung by different choir groups. An excerpt of his message was also played out at the function. <br/><br/>All India Radio, Thiruvananthpuram won The Public Service Broadcasting Award for its entry 'Karamchand :- who offers solace to the poor'.<br/><br/>In the prestigious Gandhian Philosophy award category, the award has been bagged by All India Radio, New Delhi for its entry 'Diary- Ek Ladki Ki'.<br/><br/>All India Radio gives away 'Public service Broadcasting' and 'Gandhian Philosophy' awards every year, to commemorate the first visit of Mahatma Gandhi to AIR studios New Delhi on 12th November, 1947.<br/><br/>
