National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority not to stop withdrawal of stents from market

<div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has decided not to stop any coronary stent manufacturer from withdrawing products from the Indian market.&nbsp;</span></div>''<div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><br />''</span></div>''<div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">However, the authority said, companies will have to follow mandatory requirement of informing it six months prior to the intended date of discontinuation besides other formalities.&nbsp;</span></div>''<div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><br />''</span></div>''<div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Last week, the government had revised ceiling prices of bare metal stents and drug eluting stents, almost a year after it slashed rates of coronary stents by up to 85 per cent.</span></div>''<div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><br />''</span></div>''<div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">In case of bare metal stents, the government has increased the prices from current 7,400 to 7,660 rupees. On the other hand, price of drug eluting stents has come down to 27,890 from 30 thousand 180 rupees.</span></div>
