The month long National Maritime Fisheries Census 2016 will begin tomorrow in all the maritime States and two Union Territories of the country. <br/><br/>The census is being conducted by Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi , a research body under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. <br/><br/>It will cover 425 maritime fishing villages spread 73 Districts of the country. The enumerators would collect details pertaining to social, educational, fishing infrastructure of marine fishing families to develop a comprehensive census data base, which would be helpful in facilitating formulation of fisheries related plan and policies in the marine sector. The last census was held in 2010.
