National manufacturing policy shortly: Anand Sharma

Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma says, a group of secretaries will try to fine-tune the proposed national manufacturing policy to placed before the Cabinet. Sharma said that Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister will chair the meeting of group of secretaries only on those issues where the fine tuning is required. He said that after that he will meet Finance, Labour and Environment Minister together and report back to the Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh as they have been directed to complete the exercise within the stipulated period of 30 days. A high-level committee, chaired by Dr. Singh gave the in-principle approval to the policy on Thursday which envisages big initiatives, including creation of mega industrial zones with world-class infrastructure. The committee also took on board concerns over environment and labour issues. Dr. Singh has directed Anand Sharma to complete consultations with other ministries within a month.
