National Litigation policy is in final stage: Govt

The government says National Litigation policy aimed at reducing large number of pending cases in different courts, is in the final stage. <br/><br/>Addressing a two days' workshop on Legal Information Management and Briefing System (LIMBS) in New Delhi today, Law Minister Sadananda Gowda said, the policy will help out-of-court settlements involving government departments, public sector undertakings and other government bodies. <br/><br/>He said, there are about three crore cases pending in various courts of the country and it is a matter of concern. Mr Gowda said, the new policy will bring some relief and reduce the burden on courts by constraining the unwarranted litigations.<br/><br/>The Minister said, LIMBS is a pioneer effort to digitalize the details of court cases against government of India pending under different ministries. He said, LIMBS is a simple, innovative and complete web solution to handle and monitor the court cases. It provides low cost web based technology to standardize the procedures adopted by different ministries, distribute the information, remove the impediments and to keep all government court cases under one umbrella.
