Turning to the health sector, the Budget proposes, a flagship National Health Protection Scheme to cover nearly 10 crore poor and vulnerable families providing coverage up to 5 lakh rupees per family per year for hospitalization.<br/><br/>He also added that Government will allocate Rs 600 crore towards the nutritional support of tuberculosis patients. The Finance Minister added this will be the world's largest government-funded health care programme and the government will provide adequate funds for its implementation. <br/>'<br/>The Finance Minister also announced two major initiatives as part of Ayushman Bharat programme to address health holistically in the primary, secondary and tertiary care system. 1.5 lakh health and Wellness Centres will be opened as envisioned in the National Health Policy, 2017 for bringing health care system closer to the homes of people. For this flagship programme, 1200 crore rupees has been allocated in the budget. <br/><br/>Mr Jaitley said Govt is to set up 24 new medical colleges and hospitals by upgrading district level ones. He said, Rs 1,200 crore to be allocated for Ayushman Bharat programme in 2018-19.<br/>
