National Handloom Day celebrations in collaboration with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Textile was held at Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi today. National Handloom Day is celebrated on 7th August every year. First phase of the event was celebrated at University of Delhi yesterday.<br/><br/> The event is being organised with an aim to promote use of Khadi among people. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest and Sant Kabir National awardee Mr. Khemraj said that khadi is gaining momentum nowadays as a large population of Haryana state is preferring khadi over other materials.<br/><br/> He also said that there is high demand for khadi in western countries too but we are not in a position to meet the demand. Officials from both the Ministries and University were present at the event. Cultural programmes by the students were the main highlight of the event.
