<br/>A number of programmes are being organized to mark the National Girl Child day today. The objective is to put and end to female foeticide and supportal educational facilities for them. This is important to make girls equal stake holders in all sphere of life including the decision making. <br/> The Minister for women and child development Krishna Tirath says top most priority of her ministry is to reduce gender disparity in the society so as to ensure holistic development of women and children. Mrs. Tirath said a number of schemes have been launched for the development of girl child apart from initiating a volunteer action programme to tackle violence against them. She said the present laws are also been strengthened to effectively deal with the domestic violence. Ms. Tirath said that she is also working to make a code to provide shelter services to women on priority. Our correspondent report that gender disparity is on decline and Delhi tops the women empowerment list.
