National Games: Manipur women score 2 dozen goals against Tripura

Manipur women scored as many as two dozen goals against their neighbour Tripura ina a Group B football match at the 34th National Games in Jamshedpur today. Tripura couldn't get even one goal.Tripura, who got a last moment entry into the Games, was no match for last edition's runner's up Manipur. Manipur surged ahead through Beena Devi's second minute goal netting 5 more later while Reenaroy Devi scored five goals. Mandakini Devi sent down four among other scorers.Earlier, the women's football matches were suspended over the entry of Tripura team, resumed today after the All India Football Federation gave a green signal to Tripura's entry in the larger interest of sports. With two gold medals in rowing today, Manipur tops the medal's tally with 10 golds at the National Games in Ranchi. Madhya Pradesh with 9 gold has slipped to second position while services with seven medals have moved up to third position. Services has won medals in large variety of games like equestrian, karate, diving, swimming, rowing, taekwondo and wushu. The medal tally is changing fast as the results of different events are pouring in.
