As the 35th National Games enter the third day, Haryana tops the medals tally with 15 medals, including 11 gold medals. Services is in the second spot with 14 medals, including 8 gold. Maharasthra is in the third position with six gold medals, followed by Madhya Pradesh with five gold medals. Hosts Kerala is in the fifth position with four gold medals. Tamil Nadu won its first gold medal, when its men's team retained the table tennis gold by scoring a 3-2 victory over Gujarat.In the women's 4×100 metres relay medley event, Maharashtra won gold medal. West Bengal women won one gold in the Gymnastics team event ,while Services ' men's team struck gold in Gymnastics. Services men claimed all five gold medals in the 2000 metre rowing competition held at the backwaters of Alappuzha. Three final events in Rowing will be held today. In shooting,Trap and Skeet, final will be held today afternoon at the shooting range in Thiruvananthapuram. In Gymnastics,Team final events is also scheduled today.A pall of gloom engulfed the Games village, following the tragic death of 19-year old Mayuresh Pawar, netball player from Maharashtra. He drowned at the Shanghumughom beach in Thiruvananthapuram, while posing for photographs with friends. His body will be flown to his native place this morning. Indian Olympic Association President N Ramachandran has condoled the demise of Mayuresh Pawar.
