The Government will soon launch national Policy on electronics, NPE, in the country.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi Minister for Communications and Information Technology Kapil Sibal said that the dialogue is on with the planning commission and the policy is expected to be launched soon.

He said the draft policy was released last October and the process of widespread consultations is over.

The minister said the policy will provide a clear road map for the development of electronics sector in the country for the coming decade.

Earlier, Mr. Sibal presided over the renaming function of the Department of Information Technology, which is now the Department of Electronics and Information Technology.
