The National Education Day is being observed today to commemorate the birthday of veteran freedom fighter and the first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

The Prime Minister's message reiterating the importance of education will be read in 1.3 million schools across the country.

A series of programmes have been planned to mark the day.

AIR correspondent reports, that a campaign titled Shiksha Ka Haq Abhiyan is being launched on the occasion.
Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal will launch the campaign at Nuh in Haryana.

The campaign aims to create awareness among people about Right to Education and their entitlement to free and compulsory education.

The campaign to be launched from Nuh in Mewat district is one of the districts in the country having lowest education performance parameters.

It is expected that the campaign will help a great deal in achieving desired objectives including every child's right to education.
