National Crisis Management Committee reviews the situation in Joshimath

<span style="color: #222222;">The National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) under the Chairmanship of Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Tuesday reviewed the situation in Joshimath, Uttrakhand. <br />''<br />''The Cabinet Secretary stressed that priority must be given for safe evacuation of all residents in the affected zone and demolition of vulnerable structures in a safe manner. He emphasized that all the studies and investigations including geo-technical, geo-physical and hydrological, should be completed in a coordinated and time-bound manner. <br />''<br />''The Cabinet Secretary has assured the Chief Secretary of Uttrakhand that all central agencies will continue to be available for necessary assistance.<br />''<br />''In the meeting, Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, briefed the Committee about the current situation in Joshimath mentioning that residents of severely damaged houses are being shifted to safe places. The Chief Secretary informed that relief shelters have been identified in Joshimath and Pipalkoti to accommodate the affected families and appropriate compensation and relief measures are being provided by the State government. He further stated that operation of Joshimath-Auli ropeway has been discontinued and construction works in and around Joshimath Municipality Area has also been stopped. <br />''<br />''Teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed to help the District Administration in their relief and rehabilitation efforts. Union Home Secretary apprised the Committee that a High Level Central Team of Ministry of Home Affairs led by Secretary, Border Management is at Joshimath for assessment of the situation. The meeting was attended by the Union Home Secretary, Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Information and Broadcasting Secretary among others. </span><br />
