National community based Sero-survey for Covid-19 to be conducted in 69 districts from 21 states

<span style="color: #222222;">The national community based Sero-survey for Covid-19 will be conducted in 69 randomly selected districts from 21 states. This household level cross-sectional survey will cover 24 thousand adults from districts categorized on the basis of reported cases of Covid-19. Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR in collaboration with Health and Family Welfare Ministry, National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC is conducting a community based Sero-survey with support from state health department and other key stakeholders including WHO.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The objective of this survey is to estimate the prevalence of Covid-19 infection in Indian population. The survey will involve collection of venous blood samples from 400 randomly selected individuals from 10 clusters in each district. Blood samples will be collected for detecting IgG antibodies for ELISA test developed by ICMR-National Institute of Virology. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Health Ministry said that there is a need to establish systematic surveillance for Covid-19 infection in all districts of country and surveillance will be in addition to the routine testing as per current testing guidelines.</span><br />''  <br />
