National capital all set to celebrate festival of lights, Diwali

The national capital has geared up to celebrate the festival of lights, Diwali. Market places are crowded with last minute buyers. People are thronging to shops to buy candles, lamps, crackers and gifts for near and dear ones.<br/><br/>Security has been strengthened in public places in view of the festival. Meanwhile, Delhi government has urged everyone to celebrate a cracker free Diwali this year. President Pranab Mukherjee today greeted the nation on the eve of Diwali and hoped that the festival of light will dispel the darkness of ignorance. In his message, the President said, Diwali is a harbinger of hope and aspirations for a better tomorrow and signifies the triumph of good over evil.<br/><br/>He said, people should try to bring happiness in the lives of the less fortunate and needy. He also urged everyone to celebrate a safe and pollution free Diwali. In his message, Vice President Hamid Ansari said, Deepawali signifies the victory of good over evil and reaffirms faith in the noble and virtuous life of Lord Rama. He hoped that the festival will bring peace, harmony, prosperity and happiness in everyones lives.
