National campaign on for polio eradication

Another round of Pulse Polio immunisation Programme is in progress in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and in some other states. Elaborate arrangements are in place to administer<br/>anti-polio drops to children up to the age of 5 years. According to National Polio Surveillance report, this year 528 polio cases were reported as compared to 568 cases last year. Of these maximum 400 case have come from Uttar Pradesh while Delhi reported 4 cases. In the national capital the Delhi government has set a target of administering polio drops to nearly 25 lakh children. AIR correspondent says, in Uttar Pradesh, around two crore children are being immunised for polio virus today. The massive campaign is on in 53 districts of the state. A Special National Immunisation Day is being observed in this regard. Mobile teams of health workers will make door-to-door visits for next 5 days to administer polio drops to the children left out of today’s campaign.
