National Automotive Testing Project inaugurated in Silchaar

The Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Mr. Vilas Rao Deshmukh on Saturday inaugurated Silchar centre of National Automotive Testing & R &D Infrastructure Project at Dholchhora in Assam.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, the minister has said the number of vehicles is increasing rapidly in India as more and more automobile companies are coming up. As a result, the number of road accidents is also increasing. The main object of setting up such centre is to minimise vehicular accident and save the life of the passengers by giving proper training to the drivers. Mr Deshmukh said that the government has set up seven such centres in the different parts of the country.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the Silchar centre will provide training to the drivers and shall test all the vehicles of all the seven states in the North-Eastern region. The centre will also help in minimising emission from old vehicles posing a serious threat to the environment.
