Nation wide bandh against petrol price hike evokes mixed response

The nation-wide bandh called by some opposition parties against the recent petrol price hike evoked mixed response. Train services in some parts of the country were affected as people sat on tracks. However, there were no reports of disruption of flights.

In Punjab and Haryana bandh had affected normal life in some of the cities but government offices remained open.

In Madhya Pradesh, the bandh evoked partial response.

In Gujarat, most of the main markets were closed in all major cities including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot however vehicular traffic movement was normal.

In Rajasthan, city bus service of roadways and rail services were normal.
The bandh in Chhattisgarh remained peaceful .

In Odisha and Bihar protesters disrupted railway services .
However, in West Bengal, the bandh evoked little response.

In Mumbai, municipal buses, trains, autos and taxis were plying as usual but shop -keeper in some areas kept their establishment closed.

In the National Capital, the BJP supporters blocked traffic at some places putting commuters to hardship. Office establishments reported normal attendance.
