The nation is remembering former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 95th birth anniversary today. President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi were among the prominent leaders who paid homage to the late leader at her memorial Shakti Sthal in New Delhi this morning. On the occasion, tricolour balloons were released by the President, the Vice President and UPA Chairperson.
Mrs Gandhi's birth anniversary is also observed as National Integration Day. The water resources ministry is observing the late leader's birth anniversary as Water Conservation Day to create awareness about the need to conserve water.
