Savitribai, one of the greatest social reformers of all times, is credited with having pioneered women education in India.<br />'' <br />'' A range of activities took place to celebrate 'Savitri Utsav' declared by the government of Maharashtra to mark her birth anniversary.<br />'' <br />'' Greeting on the occasion of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule's birth anniversary, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that Mahatma Jyotirao Phule was supported by Savitribai in all his endeavors.<br />'' <br />'' Mahatma Phule started the first school for women in the country and Savitribai took the responsibility of being the first female teacher in that school.  <br />'' <br />'' The Deputy Chief Minister wished the people of the state a happy 'Mahila Shikshan Dina' as the state government is also celebrating her birthday as 'Mahila Shikshan Din'.</span><br />''  <br />
