The nation pays tribute to the first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawaharlal Nehru on his 121st Birth anniversary today. A series of functions are being organised across the country to mark the occasion. In the national capital, an all religion prayer meeting has been held at his memorial Shanti Van this morning.The day is also observed as the 'Children's Day' in India as Pandit Nehru had great affection for children. They fondly called him 'Chacha' Nehru.In Uttar Pradesh, several programmes have been organised to mark the birth anniversary of Pt Nehru. The 121st birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru is being celebrated in Uttar Pradesh today. Several progrmmes are being organised in different places on this occasion to remember his services to the nation. At his ancestral home at Ananad Bhawan in Allahabad, several congress leaders including city Mayor Jitendra Nath, local citizens and school children’s paid floral tributes to Nehru. In the state capital Lucknow, the Congress leaders paid tribute to Nehru at party headquarters. In many places in the state, Bal Mela’s (children’s fair) are also being organised.
