Nation pays tribute to Nehru on his birth anniversary, Children's Day being celebrated across country

The nation pays tribute to the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary today. A number of functions are being organised to mark the occasion. A host of dignitaries paid floral tributes to Pandit Nehru at his Samadhi Shanti Van in New Delhi.

The day is also celebrated as Children's Day throughout the country. Pandit Nehru, also known as the architect of modern India, had immense love for children and they used to call him Chacha Nehru.

President Pranab Mukherjee will give away National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievement, National Awards for Child Welfare and Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Awards at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
