Nation pays tribute to 26/11 martyrs

Rich tributes were paid on Saturday to the martyrs of the 26/11Mumbai terror attacks on the third anniversary of the carnage which left nearly 164 people dead besides injuring hundreds others. Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan and Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan laid wreaths at the Police Memorial in Mumbai and observed silence in memory of the 18 security personnel who died on 26/11/2008.

Thousands of commuters on the Central Railway paused briefly at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) one of the sites targeted by terrorists and kept flowers at the memorial.

Three years after 26/11 terror attacks memories are still fresh, the wounds have healed but the scars remain.

A statue of assistant sub inspector Tukaram Ombale, who lost his life while capturing Pakistani terrorist Kasab, was unveiled at Chowpatty today. At the Taj hotel Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni paid floral tributes to the victims of 26/11/.

Mumbaikars feel a more secure Mumbai, a diplomatic victory of getting hold of the master minds of the attack and the punishment of the captured terrorist Kasab will finally result in emotional closure for the city.
