As the nation paid tributes to the martyrs of terror attack on Mumbai on this day 2 years ago, India has charged Pakistan with failure to fulfill its promise to bring the perpetrators of the attack to book. Paying tributes to the 166 martyrs, including 18 security personnel, who were killed in the attack, the Prime Minister pledged to redouble the efforts to bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice. He said the country will never succumb to the designs of the enemies. While saluting the courage, unity and resolve of ordinary Mumbaikars and the brave and selfless actions of the men in uniform during the attack, Dr Manmohan Singh said that it is this spirit and strength of character of the Indian people that will defeat forces that seek to threaten the country's social fabric and way of life .He said that nation joins the bereaved families in remembering and mourning those who perished in this barbaric attack. Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said in Mumbai that Pakistan had promised to bring to justice the masterminds, the controllers and the handlers of the terror strike by arresting all the seven persons whose names were handed over by India to it. He said Pakistan had not even handed over the voice samples of the handlers of the 10 Pakistani terrorists who struck in Mumbai. Chidambaram said India has learnt a lesson that while we will trust our neighbour, it must always be on guard. He was speaking after handing over the CNG filling station dealership to the family of Tukaram Ombale, an unarmed Mumbai police constable, who was killed when Kasab was caught alive in suburban Borivali on that fateful night. Defence Minister A K Antony said the 26/11 Mumbai terror strike is a grim reminder of the volatile neighbourhood. He expressed the nation's resolve not to allow a repeat of the 26/11-type mayhem in the country. Maharashtra Police took out a parade in south Mumbai beginning from Oberoi Trident Hotel, one of the sites of the deadly strikes. Home Minister Chidambaram and Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan were among those who placed wreaths at the Police Gymkhana. AIR Correspondent reports Mumbai saw an eventful day as the whole city joined hands in paying tribute to the martyrs and victims of the 26/11 terrorist attack on its second anniversary. Leaders along with common citizens through various events put forward a strong message of solidarity and showed unity and strength to fight the menace of terrorism. Various organisations in Mumbai organised multiple events from blood donations camps to peace march and paid homage to the martyrs and victims of the historic terrorist attack. A marathon was also organised which was attended by young students and various celebrities.
