‘Nation pays homage to the martyrs of 26/11 attack on its 2nd anniversary

Mumbai city today woke up remembering the martyrs of the 26/11 historic terrorist attack on its second anniversary. Union Home Minister P Chidambaram along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan paid homage to the martyrs. The event which was held at the Police Gymkhana in South Mumbai was also attended by Union Pertroem Minister Murli Deora, Maharsahtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, DGP D Sivanandan and Mumbai police Commissioner Sanjeev Dayal.Lauding the efforts of slain Police Inspector Tukaram Ombale in catching Kasab alive, Union Home Minister today said in Mumbai that if Kasab would not have been caught alive than there would have been no conclusive link to Pakistan in the 26/11 attacks. Lashing out at Pakistan for not acting against those who were behind the 26-11 Mumbai terror attacks, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said that India has a neighbour in Pakistan who has not fulfilled its promise to bring 26/11 masterminds to justice. He said that India has learnt a lesson that while it should trust its neighbour but at the same time it should also always be on its guard. Stressing need on police training, Mr Chaidambaram said that a proper attention should be given to the proper training and upgradation of weapons in the police force. Mr Chidambaram was speaking at an event where he handed over a CNF filling station to the family of slain police SI Tukaram Ombale.Defence Minister A K Antony today said the 26/11 Mumbai terror strike was a grim reminder of the volatile neighbourhood. Mr Antony expressed the nation's resolve not to allow a repeat of the 26/11-type mayhem in the country. In a message in New Delhi, Mr Antony called for constant vigil.He said his thoughts went out to the families of the 26/11 victims and the extraordinarily brave security personnel who lost their lives in the carnage.
