He avenged the Jallianwala Bagh massacre by killing General O'dwyer. <br/><br/>Punjab government has postponed the annual state level function to observe the martyrdom day at his native place Sunam in the wake of week long national mourning in the memory of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. However, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would lead the state to pay respects to Shaheed Udham Singh at Sunam on the solemn occasion.
