The nation today remembered the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 48th death anniversary. President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath were among prominent citizens who paid floral tributes at Shanti Van, his memorial on the banks of Yamuna in New Delhi.

An all religion prayer meeting was also organised in thepremises of the memorial. Several functions were organized across the country to mark the occasion.
