The nation is paying homage to first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 48th death anniversary today. The President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Vice-President Mohammed Hamid Ansari and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi paid floral tributes to Nehru at his Samadhi at Shanti Van in New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath were among prominent citizens who paid floral tributes at the memorial. An all religion prayer meeting was organized at the memorial.Several functions are being organized across the country to mark the occasion.
