The Nation pays homage to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 28th death Anniversary today. Indira Gandhi fell to the bullets of assains on this day in 1984. President Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Congress General Secretary, Rahul Gandhi, cabinet ministers and other dignitories paid floral tribute to Indira Gandhi at her memorial Sakti Sthal this morning. The day is also being observed as National Integration day. Several functions are being organised across the country to mark the ocassion. Congress President Sonia Gandhi, will later in the day present the Indira Gandhi Award for national Integration to renowned lyricist, poet and author Gulzar in recognition of his contribution in promoting and preserving the spirit of national integration. All Indian Radio will broadcast live the presentation of the National Integration Award. It can be heard on Rajdhani channel from 4.55 pm onwards.
