Nation pays homage to Indira Gandhi

Nation pays homage to the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 25th Death Anniversary today. She fell pray to the bullets of the assassins on this day in 1984. Several programmes are being organised to mark the occasion across the country.<br/>In New Delhi, Vice-President Mohammed Hamid Ansari, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit visited the Shakti Sthal, the samadhi of Indira Gandhi and paid floral tributes. An all religion <br/>At Anand Bhawan in Allahabad, the birth place of Indira Gandhi , people from different walks of life are paying floral tribute and remembering her sacrifice and work for the country .<br/>Indira Gandhi is the greatest and tallest leader India has ever produced. She had also acquired a formidable international reputation as a ‘statesman’. Her contributions are numerous and continue to resonate. It was her bold political leadership that made India self-reliant in the production of wheat and rice that brought prosperity to lakhs and lakhs of farmers, transforming rural India. She is known for taking bold and fearless steps, be it Bangladesh war, nuclear capability, bank nationalisation, end of privy purse and so on and so forth. It was her compassionate leadership that gave the highest priority to policies and programmes for the welfare and wellbeing of the weaker sections of society. <br/> <br/>
