Nation pays homage to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his 56th death anniversary

The nation pays homage to Father of the Indian Constitution Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on his 56th death anniversary today. Several functions have been organised to mark the day. Leaders of political parties will pay floral tributes at the statue of Dr Ambedkar at Parliament Complex. The day is also observed as Mahaparinirwan Diwas and Buddhist monks recite from the sutras and render religious songs on the occasion.

Dr Ambedkar is known as the designer and formulator of the Indian Constitution. He was appointed the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee on 29 August 1947. Dr Ambedkar also worked to eradicate the socio-economic inequalities that prevailed in the Indian society for a long time.
