Nation observes third anniversary of 26/11

Today is the third anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Several commemorative functions and campaigns are being organised across the country to remember the victims of the worst ever terror attack on Indian soil which left 166 people dead.

Special prayer meetings and candle light vigils will also be held in Mumbai and other parts of the country. Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving captured terrorist was sentenced to death in May this year by a special court but the Supreme Court in October stayed the execution.

New Delhi is also trying to get the key conspirator behind the attack David Colmen Headley extradited to India from the United States. Headley had in March last year pleaded guilty to conspiring in the 26/11 attacks.

Our Correspondent reports that New Delhi is also urging Islamabad to take credible action against the perpetrators of the Mumbai carnage and other terrorists operating from its soil.
