The nation will celebrate the 64th Independence Day on Sunday. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will unfurl the tricolour and address the country from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort. President Pratibha Patil will address the nation on the eve of the Independence Day today. The address will be broadcasted over all chanels of All India Radio in Hindi followed by English version from 7 pm onwards. The address will also be telecast over Doordarshan. AIR will broadcast the regional language versions of the address over its regional channels from 8 pm onwards. The Vice-President has greeted the people on the occasion of Independence Day. In his message Hamid Ansari said that the historic day would inspire everyone to work resolutely for the welfare of the people and commit themselves to take India to new heights of glory. Meanwhile, in the capital the Police have put in place an elaborate security system, especially near Red Fort. Arount 60 CCTVs have been installed in and around Lal Quila. Sharp shooters of the NSG will be deployed on the roof tops of high rise buildings near the Mughal monument. Strict vigil is being maintained at key installations like Parliament complex, airport, railway stations and bus terminals. According to Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police, traffic Satyendra Garg unlike the past years, borders of Delhi will not be sealed though random checking of vehicles and individuals will be done.
