The death of wrestler-actor and former member of Parliament Dara Singh has been widely mourned. In separate condolence messages, the leaders of various political parties and cine actors have hailed the role of Dara Singh in film industry and as a wrestlers.

Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari has said that Dara Singh proved to be an enduring role model to the youth and sportsmen of the country. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in his condolence message has said that Dara Singh was an inspiration and icon to many generations in the country .His contribution to the Hindi and Punjabi cinema and as a parliamentarian will be remembered by millions.

The Information and Broadcasting Minister Mrs. Ambika Soni while recalling his services as distinguished member of the Rajya Sabha and as a cine actor. Senior BJP leaders while condoling his death have recalled his services to cinema and field of sports.
