Nation celebrates Ide-Milad-un-Nabi

<br/>The Ide-Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammad, is being celebrated throughout the country today with great religious fervor and enthusiasm. On this occasion Seerat meetings are being held in which the scholars highlight the different aspects of Hazrat Mohammads' life. They called upon the Muslims to follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammad. In capital a big procession will be taken out from Sadar Bazar and Bara Hindu Rao which will culminate at Jama Masjid, Delhi.<br/><br/>The President Mrs Pratibha Patil, the Vice-President Mohammed Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh have extended their good wishes to the people on the occasion. In her message, Mrs Patil said, may the message of peace and love to humanity preached by Prophet Mohammad inspire all to follow the path of kindness. The Vice-President, in his message said, Prophet Mohammad showed mankind the path of compassion, tolerance, love, brotherhood and righteousness. Congress president Sonia Gandhi has also greeted the people on this occasion.<br/><br/>In Jammu and Kashmir, despite rain and chilly winds thousands of devotees thronged Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar and participated in night long prayers.<br/><br/>In Gujarat the birth celebration of founder of Islam religion prophet Mohammed is being celebrated with traditional faith and gaiety. AIR Bhuj correspondent reports that several unique examples of communal harmony observed during the Eid Procession in bordering district of Kutch. Large number of people from other religions joined the Eid celebration in many parts of Kutch district.
