Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated throughout the country with religious fervour and gaiety today. The festival which marks the culmination of holy month of Ramzan was celebrated in Arab and other Asian countries on Sunday. Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Mosque in Delhi, Dr. Mufti Mohammed Mukarram said that Eid moon was sighted last evening.<br/> AIR correspondent reports that people were seen preparing for celebrations of Eid. Markets and shopping malls were crowded with everyone trying to get the best buy for the Eid. <br/> The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, the Vice President, Mohammed Hamid Ansari and the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh have greeted the people on the occasion. In a message, Mrs. Patil said, may this festival strengthen mutual goodwill and inspire each one to follow the path of love, compassion and tolerance. <br/> In his message, Mohd Hamid Ansari said the festival symbolises compassion, brotherhood and the spirit of sharing. <br/> The Prime Minister, in his message said the festival reflects the true spirit of our composite culture. Dr Manmohan Singh said, may the festival strengthen our resolve to promote tolerance and peace and live in harmony.
