Nation celebrates 66th Independence Day tomorrow

Nation celebrates 66th Independence Day tomorrow. The main function will be held in the national capital where Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will address the nation and unfurl the national tri-colour from the historic ramparts of Redfort. It will be followed by a march past of the Police and armed forces.

Strict security arrangements have been made for Independence Day celebrations in Delhi. Traffic on several routes has been diverted.

All India Radio will broadcast running commentary in Hindi and English simultaneously from 0705 hrs on the flag hoisting ceremony and address to the nation by the Prime Minister. Consequently, there will be some changes in the news bulletins. The Hindi bulletin will be on air from 0810 a.m. instead of 0800 a.m. Similarly, English news bulletin will be broadcast from 0825 a.m. to 0840 a.m. In case of the relay goes beyond 08.10 a.m. the news in Hindi and English will follow it. Some changes have also been made in the Language bulletins .

Functions are also being held at all State Headquarters and Union Territories.
