Nation celebrates 64th Independence Day

The nation celebrates the 64th Independence Day today. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will unfurl the national flag and address the nation from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort. All India Radio will broadcast live the flag hoisting ceremony and the the Prime Ministers's address from 7.05 am onwards.Elaborate security arrangements have made in the national capital Delhi especially around Red Fort. 60 CCTV cameras have been installed and NSG sharp shooters deployed on the roof tops of high rise buildings near the Mughal monument. Strict vigil is being maintained at key installations like Parliament complex, airport, railway stations and bus terminals. Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police, Traffic, Satyendra Garg said that unlike the past years, Delhi borders will not be sealed though random checking of vehicles and individuals will be done. Northern Railway has decided to withhold the train services between Old Delhi and Shahadra Railway Stations between 6 AM and 8.30 AM today. Metro will run as usual on the Independence Day.
