The 150th birthday of Rabindra Nath Tagore is being celebrated all over Sub-Continent today. In West Bengal various programs have been organised to pay respect to Gurudev Tegore. The day begun with musical soirees, probhat ferry and garlanding of statues and portraits of Tagore. Our Correspondent reports that streams of people have converged at Jorosanko Thakurbari-the birth place of Rabindra Nath. A fortnight long program organised by the State Government also began at Rabindra Sadan at Central Kolkata this morning. Railway Minister Mamata Banarjee will flag off an exhibition train at Howrah Station in Kolkata this afternoon depicting different aspects of the life and works of Tagore. The train will travel all over the country for a year to spread Tagore’s philosophy. Union Culture Secretary Jawhar Sircar said that the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohon Singh will inaugurate an exhibition on Tagore’s Painting at a function in New Delhi today. While Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will release a commomorative coin on Tagore at a function in the National Capital this evening. <br/><br/>
