In the National Capital markets, malls and shops are well deck up for the welcome of the New Year — 2012. The President and Vice- President have greeted the nation on the eve of New Year.

In her message, President Pratibha Devisingh Patil has called upon people to resolve to work with all dedication and a sense of pride in whatever activities they undertake. She said that coming year wpuld bring happiness to the nation.

In his message, Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari said New Year dawned with renewed hope of pledging ourselves towards working with dedication for progress of our country.

On the ocassion, eleborate security arrangements have been made across the national capital to prevent any untoward incident.
