Nashik Kumbh Mela: First shahi snan begins this morning

The first 'Shahi Snan' or royal bath began this morning at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar towns during the ongoing Kumbh Mela.<br/><br/>Thousands of Mahants and Sadhus, belonging to ten akhadas of Shaiva sect, have got the honour to take first holy dip in Kushawart at Nashik. The royal bath of Shaiva Sandhus of ten Akhadas, began at 4 am and completed at around 10 .30am. After the bath, mahants and sadhus took darshan of Lord Shiva at Trimbkeshavar temple.<br/><br/>Devotees are now taking bath at Kushawart and Ramkundnd. The state government has prepared 7 Ghats in Nasik and 3 at Trimbakeshwar for royal bath of devotees.Special roads and lanes have also been opened by civic administration to reach easily at river bank. Almost all the roads leading to the Godavari River have been closed and made 'no vehicle zone'. All basic amenities like toilets, drinking water, health services, ambulance services, food points and sheds for aged people have been set up.<br/><br/>Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has provided 3,000 buses at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar to carry the devotees throughout the day.
