BJP leader Narendra Modi today thanked the party workers and supporters for the splendid victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Addressing them at the party headquarters in New Delhi, Mr Modi attributed the victory to the tireless efforts of the party workers since 1952. He said the outcome of the elections has generated a new confidence in the party. Mr Modi, particularly thanked voters of Delhi for electing BJP candidates.
Mr Modi is attending party's Parliamentary Board meeting, which has begun a short while ago. It is slated to discuss the future course of action including the formation and structure of the new government. The Board may also decide the role of senior leaders like L K Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi in the new dispensation.
Earlier, Mr Modi was given a rousing reception at the Delhi airport after his arrival from Gandhinagar. A number of senior BJP leaders, including party chief Rajnath Singh received him. Thousands of party activists and supporters greeted the leader throughout his road show from airport to party headquarters. Delhi Police had made elaborate security arrangements for the free passage of Mr Modi from airport to party headquarters.
