Narayansamy: Coal block allocation done in transparent manner

Union Minister of state for PMO, V Narayansamy today reiterated the UPA government claim that the coal block allocation was done in a transparent manner and blamed the BJP of indulging in double speak. Speaking to mediapersons in Itanagar this morning, Naranyansamy said the government took the decision on the allocations on the recommendations of respective state governments. He said all the coal allocations were made through a screening committee of which concerned state’s chief secretaries’ are members. Stating that the government has assured to take action if any discrepancies were found in the allocation and CBI has already started investigating the matter, the minister however said the report of the Inter-Ministerial Group formed to look into the issue is being awaited. Blaming the BJP of playing politics on the issue in view of the coming state assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, Mr Narayansamy said the country’s biggest opposition party is making a mockery of Parliamentary democracy by stalling the proceedings of the just concluded monsoon session. The minister came down heavily on the BJP for demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister on the issue saying the allocation of 39 coal blocks during the last NDA regime were done without any auction or guidelines.
