Tropical storm Nanmadol made landfall in the south-eastern Fujian province of China on Wednesday bringing heavy rains and winds. Flights have been canceled, shipping services remain suspended, and fishing boats have all been forced back to port. Hundreds of local soldiers have been busy fixing several cracks along a 400-metre section of the seawall in the city of Quanzhou. However, authorities said there are no immediate reports of casualties in the province. Since last night, more police officers have been sent to check on the nearby harbors for any possible danger that may occur and try to nip it in the bud. Meanwhile, people in neighboring Guangdong province are also getting ready for Nanmadol. Torrential rains are forecast in that province over the next couple of days as well.. Nanmadol is also set to bring heavy downpours to the provinces of Anhui, Zhejiang and Jiangxi today. In the Phillipines, the death toll from Nanmadol has climbed to 25, with at least 30 others hurt.
