Nandigram firing: SC seeks response from WB govt. on CBI plea to book cops

SC seeks response WB on CBI's plea for criminal prosecution of police officials responsible for Nandigram firing. The Supreme Court today sought response from the West Bengal government on CBI's plea for allowing criminal prosecution of police officials responsible for the Nandigram firing in March 2007. 14 persons were killed in the firing.A Bench of Justices R V Raveendran and H L Gokhale issued the notice on the CBI's application seeking vacation of the stay on the prosecution of the police officials which the apex court had ordered on state government's plea in 2007.The court asked the state government to file its counter affidavit within two weeks.
