Nanavati Commission asks CMO officials to file affidavits

In Gujarat, the Nanavati Commission, probing the 2002 post-Godhra riots, has asked three officials of the Chief Minister Office to file affidavits with regard to their telephonic conversation with some of the riots accused during the communal violence. The Commission, comprising Rtd Justices G T Nanavati and Akshay Mehta, issued the order on Friday on an application by the NGO, Jansangharsh Manch, representing some of the riot victims.<br/><br/>The NGO had asked the Commission to summon Modi and the Chief Minister Office officials for questioning in connection with the riots, triggered by torching of Sabarmati Express on February 27, 2002. The probe panel, which completed the hearing on the application in July this year, has reserved its order.
