Namibian President re-elected

Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba has been re-elected for a second term after winning 76.4 per cent of the votes in last week's poll. Official results show that Mr Pohamba's governing Swapo party got 74 per cent of the Parliamentary vote maintaining its two-thirds majority. Eight of 13 opposition parties that took part in the voting have vowed to contest the results in court alleging voting and counting irregularities. African observer missions have pronounced that the elections held on 27 and 28 November as largely free and fair.
